Meet our team

Indra den Bakker


Indra has a background in Business Mathematics and Informatics. Before co-founding Overstory, Indra worked as a Data Scientist and is the author of ‘Python Deep Learning Cookbook’. On a mission to enable advancements in AI to make our planet a better place.

Anniek Schouten


Anniek has a background in Business Strategy and Psychology and worked as a consultant for leading Dutch multinationals before co-founding Overstory. Anniek believes technology will contribute to a more sustainable planet.

Roelof Pieters


Roelof has a background in Computer Science and Anthropology and formerly CEO & co-founder of creative.ai. Roelof also runs Sunshine Lab, a sustainable design studio, and AI network Stockholm.ai. Roelof believes that thoughtful technology can help bring about a sustainable future.

David de Meij


David holds a Master degree in Interaction Technology and a Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering and Management. David is convinced that by applying Machine Learning we can have a large positive impact on solving our most pressing problems such as climate change.

Rochelle Silva​


Rochelle has a Master in Biomedical Engineering. Previous to Overstory she worked as a Data Scientist in Portugal. Rochelle applies her processing images and research experience for Overstory. Using data for good is her biggest motivation.

Fiona Spruill


Fiona was most recently COO of Meetup, where she was responsible for product, design, business strategy, sales and customer support. Before that, she was an editor at The New York Times. Fiona believes that working to solve our climate crisis is the most important mission of our time, and the most exciting problem to be working on in tech.

Lorenzo Riches


Lorenzo is an engineer interested in building production-grade machine learning products. Before joining Overstory, Lorenzo was a Data Scientist at the World Food Programme. Outside working hours Lorenzo loves being in nature, something he wants to help protect.

Arsha Yuditha Amiranti


Arsha has a Master degree in Geoinformatics and Geodesy. She incorporates geospatial information and technology for a purposeful change in society.

Elvira Garkava


Elvira has a Bachelor degree in Business Innovations and background in UX Design. She is passionate about environmental technologies, design and mindfulness. Elvira believes that sustainable technologies will transform the future.

Killian Tobin

Head of Business Development

Killian believes thoughtful technology allows us to create the greatest impact. Killian brings to Overstory over 20 years of experience with infrastructure planning, modeling, and software sales. He is the former Director of Business Development for Uptake, worked with Oracle, and was recently the CEO and co-founder of Omega Grid.

Andrea Giardini

DevOps Engineer

Andrea is taking care of Overstory’s infrastructure and reliability. He provides the tools and computing resources to let data scientists work in the most efficient way. Since some years he has been using cloud technologies at different scales and bringing his experience to conferences and community talks.

Santiago Gaitan

Data Scientist

Santiago has over 15 years of international experience in research, consultancy, and social entrepreneurship on natural resources management and data innovation. He is a biologist, a RS&GIS specialist, and holds a PhD in water resources management. He is passionate about leveraging science and technology to ensure environmental sustainability and factual democracy.
